Advertising Campaign Project

This was a project for my Graphic Design 1 class where we were tasked with using rhetoric in our designs.
Glossier is a trendy makeup & skincare brand that promotes natural beauty while simultaneously perpetuating unrealistic skin standards in promotional material for young women. I chose to use irony to improve Glossier’s marketing and show that there is beauty in imperfections, which would undo the irony in their advertisements.

I did my own take on the “Feeling like Glossier” campaign that they created to show the importance of how you feel in makeup and not just how you look. The irony is that, even in that campaign, the imagery was pretty edited and showed unrealistic standards of skin. I kept the format the same but included images of people who look REAL and UNFILTERED and who have a variety of emotions and vibes.

The mockups were meant to be in places where people would interact with them personally while they are walking or hanging around (maybe even take pictures with them). This makes it more impactful than a social media post or billboard where viewers would brush right past it and forget about it!
